Y Gro has been dedicated to uplifting the less fortunate and improving their quality of life. Through various initiatives and programs, Y Gro has been successful in achieving its mission of providing relief, rehabilitation, and development services to those in need.
Ygro’s main focus is the reduction of poverty in rural communities in Sri Lanka.
YGro therefore works directly in partnership with the communities Government and related stakeholders. Our aim is to empower the poor and vulnerable holistically by creating models which are sustainable in the long term. We are committed to encouraging the poor towards self-determination and to use their skills, talents and resources to break the cycle of poverty.

Our Vision
To “Bring Wholeness to Whole Communities” of the poor. Wholeness covers Economic, Social, Psychological & Spiritual aspects.
Working Partnerships
In the North Western province Y Gro works in partnership with the Government’s Department of Animal Production and Health in the Dairy Development sector, Coconut Research Institute and Coconut Cultivation Board.
In the North & East Y Gro works in partnership with Word and Deed of Netherlands in building capacities of unemployed and under-employed youth and women through technical, business and soft skills needed for employment & self-employment and linking them to employment through the job booster program.
Apart from this, Y Gro works with District Secretaries of each working District and the NGO Secretariat for approvals/reporting.
Philosophy
Y Gro is committed to live and work amongst the affected community and establish practical relational models. These models are then used as an educational tool to educate and empower the poor and vulnerable.
Christian Ethos
Y Gro works out of a Christian ethos but does not make any distinction between race, religion, caste, class in terms of its program goals, objectives. Y Gro has a strong bias towards the poor and vulnerable with an emphasis on Children, Youth and Communities.
Working Districts
Ygro is currently working in the Kurunegala, Vavuniya, Mannar, Kilinochchi, Jaffna, Batticaloa & Ampara Districts.
